Rent is paid onsite in EUR either in one lump sum at the beginning of the semester, or in installments throughout the semester.
These are four options students have used in the past:
1. Pay directly to the landlord in EUR.
2. Make a wire transfer from your home bank (in the US or elsewhere) to the Italian bank of the landlord (there may be additional fees for a wire transfer depending on your bank).
3. Open a personal low-cost bank account in Italy, and make a local wire transfer to the landlord’s bank account.
4. Go directly to the landlord’s bank to make a deposit for the rent payment. This option has a commission fee of approximately 10 EUR.

Airfare prices will vary greatly, depending on date of purchase, departing location, and whether or not you choose a refundable or non-refundable ticket, among other factors. This amount will vary depending on your personal spending habits and only addresses expenses related to daily living in your program city, not supplemental travel costs.
This amount is an estimate of your day-to-day transportation expenses in your program city such as commuting to campus and is often based on, for example, a monthly public transportation pass.
This amount is an estimate of your transportation costs between the airport and program site. You’ll get more detailed and up-to-date information and instructions via your student account.
A visa is official permission to stay in a country; it is sometimes called a “residence permit” or similar. This amount is the estimated fee for the visa itself; travel to the consulate may also be required and is not included in the amount. You will receive more detailed and up-to-date information and instructions via your student account.
